When quoting your CNC machined parts, we strongly recommend that you upload and attach a PDF drawing that calls out all critical dimensions, tapped holes, tolerances, and finishing information relative to your part. Drawings must be uploaded and attached to a part before requesting a quote.
How to attach drawings using the Auto-attach drawing feature
Upload your drawings and parts directly from your computer to create a new quote.
If both PDF and CAD files are found, a message will appear asking if you’d like to automatically attach your uploaded drawings to your parts.
Drawings and parts with similar file names will be attached together as they upload to your new quote. Please note that duplicate file names or files without any similar characters may not be attached.
You can also access this feature after adding PDF and CAD files to a quote by clicking the Auto-attach drawings button found at the top of your quote.
How to attach drawings manually while configuring your parts
Upload your files directly from your computer. Once they're uploaded, click Configure.
Choose your manufacturing process. We currently support PDF drawings for all of our manufacturing processes except for 3D printing.
As you configure your part, you can either:
Click Generate a drawing to create and edit a 2D drawing of your part
Click Attach drawing from quote to attach a drawing you've already uploaded
Click Upload drawing to select a drawing from your computer
Frequently asked questions about engineering drawings:
Do you accept any drawing file formats other than PDF?
Unfortunately no, .pdf is the only drawing file format we currently support.
How do I create an engineering drawing?
For engineering drawing basics, check out our article on How to Make an Engineering Drawing.
If my drawing contains multiple pages, will all of them be captured by China Manufacturing parts?
Yes, either our automated quoting platform or our manufacturing experts will review all pages contained in your PDF.
Adding my drawing made the part too expensive. How do I make it cheaper?
To save you machining costs and time on your part, take a look at Engineering Drawing Best Practices.
Can I request inspection requirements without submitting a drawing?
A drawing is required if you are requesting Certificates of Conformances, First Article Inspections, CMM Reports, or Material Certifications. Learn more about requesting this documentation here.
If I upload a drawing, will that erase the threads I configured?
Uploading a PDF drawing precludes the use of our auto-thread detection feature. If you ONLY have tapped holes you need to call out in addition to the CAD, you may use auto-thread detection.
