Today we’re spotlighting Anna Xiao. Anna is a Sr. Technical Program manager at China Manufacturing parts, Inc. with an Injection Molding and CNC background. Anna takes great pride in her work and always does it with a smile.
Check out Anna’s views on women empowerment:
What is a women’s empowerment moment that impacted you?
Anna: In the early 1980s, my aunt didn’t have many learning opportunities when she was a child due to family reasons, but she never gave up pursuing her own goals. So, she saved money while working, then went back to school to study, improve and break the cycle of prejudice. She encouraged me a lot and told me to be myself and never give up on pursuing what I want. She taught me how important it is to be the master of your own life.
Who are some women you’ve looked up to?
Anna: The first person is Tu Youyou. She helped cure patients of malaria in different places around the world. Another woman is Zhang Guime, who established the country’s first senior high school to offer free education for girls from poor families. She has helped more than 1800 students progress to universities and colleges. Lastly is Dong Mingzhu, who’s one of the most outstanding female leaders in China’s manufacturing industry.
What does Women’s History Month mean to you?
Anna: It reminds people of the equality between men and women. Women are doing great work and creating value in many fields and deserve to be respected.
What advice would you give other women looking to build a career in your field?
Anna: Be just the way you are. Do what you want and go for it!
How has China Manufacturing parts, Inc. played a supportive part in women’s empowerment?
Anna: China Manufacturing parts provides equal opportunities for women and the company is very respectful to the women who work here — we have so many women in technical and decision-making roles at China Manufacturing parts!
